About time I finally wrote something in here, eh?

Yes, the time was finally upon me, after many weeks of stressing about paperwork, money, more paperwork, surveys, oh, and some more paperwork the day arrived that my settlement went through (16th February) and I was finally ready to start packing up for the move...

With hindsight, I probably should have started packing up earlier than then night before I moved out, but then I never was singled out as the 'intelligent one' through life!  Ah well, Friday night was spend disassembling, moving, bagging and boxing all of my worldly possessions and making ready for the arrival of the lads the next morning for the big move.

With a sterling effort from Jason, Jon, Dougal and Mikie we had my 'life' packed up between two cars and a trailer, over two different trips, from Maylands to my new abode in Leederville.  All would have been better without two torrential downpours during the move (or maybe investing in a covered tailer given that they had actually warned there might be rain...) but never mind, we got it all moved and all in less than 3 hours start to finish.

Four (Mikie had to head off early!) knackered, sweaty and thirsty lads headed straight off to the Oxford Hotel for some refreshments and lunch - well, it was the least I could do for all their time and efforts!  An excellent lunch was enjoyed with a couple of pints before it was time to take the trailer back, the lads to go their seperate ways, and for me to spend the rest of the weekend unpacking, arranging, re-assembling and wondering where to put everything!

It all worked out rather well really and the place is really starting to take shape - at least it looks good now, God know's what it'll look like after the house warming! :)

Date for the party looks like it'll be the 31st of March, just a month away and enough time to settle in and enjoy the house before it's destroyed in the course of the party...  Well, hopefully not! :)

Finally, as if buying the house wasn't expensive enough, I've decided to invest in air conditioning...  Reverse cycle, inverter system, ducted aircon for the bedrooms upstairs a well as the hall / stairwell will be fitted by the 13th of March...  A snip at just under $8,000.00 but all I'm thinking about is cool, cool nights and long sleeps while the temperature outside bakes the rest of Perth!

(NB - Reverse cycle means that it cools in the Summer and can heat in the winter - clever, eh?  Inverter system is a bit more clever (i.e. New House... The Beer Garden!
New House... The Beer Garden!
I'm not really sure what it does!) but basically it's a more economical way or running the aircon, and much quieter too...  Excellent!)
