Cor... How times flies! I'd planned to write up the reasons behind the title of this entry about 2 weeks ago... Oops! Ah well, here goes;
The reason I'm a 'broken man' is because of my second (and so far last) rugby game for West Subiaco where not only did we lose (beaten by a team of a much higher standard I should point out!) but during the game I managed to do some damage to my neck...
Bloody high tackles!
After a few days of painkillers I decided to head to get medical help (sure injuries healed faster when I was younger!)
After 7 x-rays and various prods and pokes (not in a good way!) I was told that I didn't have a fracture neck (?!?) but did have displaced vertebrae as well as subfluxation of my spine - probably from years of abuse and neglect (on the rugby field, not at home!)
The photo's probably don't do it justice (mobile phone photos of the x'rays) but you'll get the idea - damaged boy, needs to be fixed, no rugby for a long, long time.. Nat...
Nat...
.
I'm seeing an excellent Chiropractor, recommended to me by Sam, who's got me visiting pretty much every day to try and 'iron out the kinks' (my words, not hers!) and hopefully in between 3 - 6 months I should be back to normal (or as normal as I can be!)

Sadly it does look like my rugby career is over for now, if not forever, so I had to find something else to do with my time... Cue the pub!
The weekend wouldn't be the same without alcohol but first, on Friday night, Nat and I headed to the Perth Theatre (impressed Mum?) to watch a show. Admittedly it was a comedy show - just can't see myself enjoying culture and all that - 'The Umbilical Brothers...' The show started off a bit slow but their comedy timing and style was great! Excellent evenings entertainment and only a couple of drinks to go along with it!
(The Umbilical Brothers are an Australian Duo who generally make it to the Edinburgh festival every year... If you can make it along I'd definitely recommend the show!)
The boys headed to Cottesloe for the holiday weekend - a Sunday Session barbecue and pub visit. The weather was absolutely stunning so we decided to take the furniture from the house (not mine thankfully!) out onto the street and watch the world go by Street party - just call us 'the boagans!'
Street party - just call us 'the boagans!'
. We managed to project the perfect image of trailer trash sitting on camp stools and a sofa at the kerbside throwing back beer, sambucca and whisky... My body was not my friend the next day.

Needless to say the holiday Monday was spent recovering with a visit to Kings Park. Nat and I wandered around the park enjoying what turned out to be a gorgeous day although I think everyone else in Perth had the same idea - bit too busy! The cafe and restaurant there were mobbed so it was off to Northbridge for some comfort food - Chinese munchies, just what the Doctor ordered!

Oh and apart from all that work's still going along fine, no travel as yet but getting the finger on the pulse of Perth... Or at least that's what I'm telling the boss.

On the countdown to coming home in July as well (only a month or so to go...) so whoever's still left in Aberdeen be warned - I'll be there from the 9th to the 15th, I will force you to drink beer!
