Arrival in Perth was early and a huge relief. Still feeling a bit unsure about everything but no turning back now (although the shock on my folks faces if I turned up back at the house two days after leaving would be a picture!) and it was onward to passport control, validation of my migration visa and then hopefully collection of all my bags...
Passport control turned out to be over an hours wait in a huge queue due to other delayed flights arriving at the same time as us, so by the time I reached the booth I wasn't in the best of humours. Luckily the girl behind the desk was, so after handing over my passport and having it scanned I was on my way to baggage within 10 seconds. Even better with the delay in getting through that part, all the bags were already out of the plane and my luggage was all there!
Jason was a star and was waiting for me as I emerged from the terminal Redback...
Redback...
. Off home for a shower and a change of clothes and we headed straight for the first pint of the day in The Queens...
Dougal, Sam and Chris all made it along as well as Beth and Lorn, mates of Dougal's. We drank far too much on empty bellies - and man did I suffer for it the next day!
Still, nothing more for it than to get going and attack the day - start sorting out my new life in Oz!
All this organising does mean that I'm avoiding the pubs though, which is bound to be a good thing! Have interviews, house viewings and car test drives arranged for next week so I think I'll reward myself with a few beers over the long weekend (holiday Monday here in Australia) - I'm sure Jason, Stu, Sam and Chris won't mind heading to the pubs again!
We're even managing to hit the beaches as well - snorkeling and boogie boarding over the holiday weekend was fabulous, although constant temperatures of 38 degrees do get a little much! The snorkeling didn't reveal too many exciting sights but back on Scarborough beach for some swimming we just managed to avoid a fair sized stingray that had taken an interest in us...
Maybe we should stick to dry land and pubs... At least we haven't encountered any sharks... Yet!

PS For the non-Oz residents or visitors; Tim Tams are delicious chocolate biscuits like Penguins only better, Redback is a fantastic beer over here on the West Coast (also a deadly spider, but we ignore or kill them!) and thongs over here are flip-flops... Just in case you were wondering!
