tempel 27

Enough of the big cities, so off to Kamakura, South of Tokyo and Yokohama. Kamakura used to be the capital of Japan (just like Kyoto and Nara - it seems like any major city in Japan once had the joy of being capital city) and as a result many temples remain in this place. After Tokyo and Nara we had had enough of temples for a while, but this place is quite special. It is also my moms' favourite place, so here are also a few pictures for her.

Tempel 2

Our favourite coffee man!

This is the Lucky God, he points to where you can find good luck. Everyone rubs his belly, so we couldn't resist, don't know what it is good for, but it probably can't hurt....

Kamakura is for Tokyo the surfer's place and when I lived here I had my windsurf board stored at this surf club.

A nice autumn walk along the beach... in spring!

The most famous temple in Kamakura, the Daibutsu, or Big buddha

Catching some air

temple 27

This was the last bit of countryside in Japan. It was nice to see some green again and some peace and quiet. Kamakura is still a very nice place, although a bit more sunshine would've been nice...
