Up early for the drive to Bluff to catch the ferry. We arrived in Bluff just in time only to find out that Andy had lost his cigs and needed to get more before we left civilisation (so he thought). He managed to get some and still get the ferry, so off we go...

Foveux straght is legendary for rough crossings, but as usual the good weather followed me and we had an easy crossing. I even slept through part of it!

Oban turned out to be a village of 400 people, complete with a museeum, 4square and pub. With it being ANZAC day, the DOC were closed to 1300 and we needed to go there for hut tickets for the Rakiura track. So we ended up sat around for a couple of hours until the DOC opened. We booked the huts and left - should have done it back in Invercargill.....

The track followed a coastal road route for the first few km, before slowly ascending into bush in the national park proper. The walking was easy in the most part - boardwalk has been put up over any ground that might get boggy, which feels like cheating to me.

Arrived into the hut at 1700 - and grabbed a place in front of the stove. Place was fairly full until an obnoxious bunch of fishermen turned up and installed the worlds loudest snorer in the bunk above mine. I ended up sleeping in the kitchen to get away from it. NEVER FORGET EARPLUGS!
