fisherman casually chopped the head of the hammerhead shark and tossed the odd shaped appendage to the group of noisy pelicans which then eagerlyfought over their decapitated trophy.
Not the average fishmarket you could say but a small collection of fishing boats at the end of a dusty road called punta lobos, or wolfpoint, here in the Baja peninsula of Mexico.
The fish on offer here was of the highest quality and so fresh some was still trying to fight its way back to the crystal blue from where it was unwillingly dragged, a huge chunk of pink marlin sufficed for us and with a exchange of pesos and my scetchy spanish we were off back to our camp where we cooked up our feast provided by the brave fishermen.
So here i am on the baja peninsula staying in a small little outpost city with little more than a small tienda which provides my dark rum and the mechanic yard filled with various rusting wrecks off once road worthy vehicles and of course the campsite where i am staying oh and not to forget the taco stand which provides some rather interesting looking meat,at least interesting if you are either drunk or a dog.
A 3 kilometre walk along a dirt path through thedusty parched landscaped populated by low lying thorny scrub and the classic looking mexican cactus which magically draws its sustenance from this dried land and you end up on the sweeping golden sands of los Cerritos with the beach break that seems to turn from adequate learner waves to pummeling your ass and nearly killing you kamakaze style in one easy switch, I opting for the learner stuff when allowed a option am attempting to get my surfing legs together whilst waiting for friends to turn up on the yacht they are currently sailing down from America, once they are here our destination is good old blighty, via the rest of central america, though Panama canal(which will be awesome) over to the carribean then the long sail across the fishbowl and back home where our lassies await.

Going to be one hell of a trip. sure going to beat working on boats for a while and sure going to take alot of rum.
