After Salta Raftting we travelled south to Mendoza in time for Christmas Eve, bush camping at night. Along the way we stopped at the Quilmes Ruins. This was interesting for us because Rebecca`s uncle and aunt live in Quilmes, Buenos Aires (see earlier entry!!). We discovered that the Quilmes people had lived in northern Argentina but had be disposessed by the invading spaniards and moved to the outskirts of Buenos Aires. The ruins did not look that great from below but we climbed up to the fort  for a better view and it was pretty impressive.
We also visited Moon Valley which is the site of the discovery of the oldest dinousaur remains on earth. There is also a collection of bizzare rock formations which we visited. They have been given names and we saw the worm, the submarine, the sphinx and the toadstools.
