Biking down a volcano

Back in Quito and back in our second home, the secret garden hostel. We booked ourselves onto a mountain biking tour of a nearby volcano. Cotopaxi is the world´s largest active volcano, although it has not erupted since the 19th century. The trucks took us up to just below the snow line at 4,500m where we began the ride. There were 11 people in the group and we all set off at different paces down the first steep section. The views of the volcano were magnificent, the guide saying the best he had seen in 6 months so there were many photo stops. The ride was over 4 hours of mostly downhill, with the only spill coming from Angus the guide! We had a great day, with a good group of people and would definitely recommend the biking dutchman, the tour company, to everyone.
