We'd heard great things about Luang Prabang - and the town lived up to our expectations as a really nice place to relax with loads of beautiful temples to visit and chilled out markets to shop at. The whole experience was made even better by the gorgious 5* hotel we stayed in - thanks to Mark's old work who gave him the money to spend on a posh hotel.
After spending the last 5 months in $5 a night grotty rooms the boutique style Pansea Phou Vao felt like walking into another world - I'm amazed they didn't kick our muddy backpacks right out of the door! Our suite was huge - especially the bathroom and balcony overlooking the negative edge swimming pool below. There was another pool at the spa area where we both enjoyed a fantasic massage and steam room.
The next day we did a cooking course with the head chef and learnt how to make amazing Laos classics. It was pretty hard to check out after 2 nights and return to a shared bathroom fan room down the road! More thumbnails ...
