Travelling by boat on the Mekong across the border was a great way into Vietnam. Plenty of rice paddies and floating markets as expected, but also bustling towns and villages all the way along the river.
We spent one night in a 'home stay' with a local family. It was lovely to see their way of life and they cooked us some fantastic food - fresh fish from the river and roll your own spring rolls. More thumbnails ...
