Had a flying visit through Jodphur - arriving late at night and leaving at lunch time the next day. The hotel we stayed at very basic - room was cell like with bars on the windows. We got some sleep sheets made in Udaipur that came in very useful for keeping out bed bugs! Still, it was only 2 quid a night so shouldn't complain!

For breakfast we had the local speciality of saffron lassi's (yoghurt drinks) which were extremely tasty. Then we headed up hill to see the most impressive fort in Rajastan. It towers above the city on a mountain of rock - all very imposing. On the front gates were battle scars from cannon balls and big spikes to keep out charging elephants. From the top were great view of the city below - the Brahmin houses are traditionally painted blue which makes for a very beautiful vista.
