Hello friends - (we hear this about a 100 times a day from Indian salesmen!)
Thanks to all of you for making us feel so special at our various leaving parties - we were sad to leave such good pals - but so happy to be on our travels.
Arrived safely in Mumbai - what an amazing city. We had no idea it would be so beautiful - busy, smelly, full of poverty and dodgy salesmen, but still very spectacular. The skyline above the beach is just like LA - and the beach seems to go on for miles. Shame the water is too poluted to swim in - but there are food stalls a plenty to keep us happy.
We went to Elephanta island yesterday - an amazing island off the coast full of Hindu cave temples and mischievous monkeys who tried to attack us for our bags. Escaped intact just about - but just in case they follow us we're leaving to head up north to Udaipur on a very slow coach later today.
Will keep you updated. Currently feel like we are on holiday - the thought of being away for 7 months hasn't quite sunk yet!
