We arrived in Ko Lanta via a small ferry directly from Ko Phi Phi and got sold some accommodation along the way. A man showed us his leaflet with a lovely looking hotel and a nice pool for 500 baht (£10) a night. We agreed to take a look which meant we got a free taxi ride there as well. The guys leaflet didn't lie and our room was big and clean, tv and aircon near a decent pool right on the beach. We spent the first day by the pool and soon realised that although the accommodation was good it was in the middle of no-where and you needed to rent a scooter to get anywhere. We decided not to rent one in the end as I don't have my International Driving License which you apparently need and there was no-one to ask how to get it. We enjoyed a few nights at a small family run restaurant at the end of the road, that cooked us yummy Thai food for much cheaper than our hotel. After 3 nights we both started to feel a bit bored (shocking I know!) of beach life and needed to get out of holiday mode and back to travelling. We decided to head up to Bangkok, a slight change of scenery!
