Far out Las Vegas is an amazing place.... we have never seen so many lights in our lives!  Sorry it's been a few days since our last entry but we have been so busy here, our first day we arrived late so we flew in to Las Vegas and saw all the pretty lights from the sky and that was pretty neat.  We settled into our apartment and next day we were pretty much into it!

We have seen 2 shows already one was called the V the Ultimate variety show and the other was the Blue Man Group - who are pretty famous over here, they were great and they get the audience very involved, quite funny seen from the audience prospective!

We have seen the most fantastic fountain show out the front of the Bellagio Hotel... it runs every 15 min and has a different song to each show, just beautiful.

Of course we have seen the many gambling casinos and now it's not right to call it "Gambling" it is now known as "Gaming" so I suppose it sounds better and you don't feel so bad doing it!!
Seen a lot of big spenders! and I mean a lot - $500 dollar chips at a time! you gotta spend big to win big - that's the motto here for sure!  Mark and I went onto the 1 cent machines and had fun for 2 hours playing with no more than $5.00 just to say that we have played in the Casinos of Las Vegas!  They want you to stay in the Casinos so they have waitresses coming around giving you free drinks and all you have to do is tip her $1 or $2 dollars and she just keeps coming back, Mark was fairly tanked when we left there!!

We went to one of the 7 wonders of the world the mighty "Grand Canyon" Oh My what a magnificent place it was so deep and very scary looking over the edge - can't believe there are no guard rails!  we went to the West rim which is closer to Las Vegas the South rim is quite a bit further away.  We took heaps of photo's, I couldn't stop taking photos!  and it looks different all the time, the sun shines on the rocks and they are always changing, just a gorgeous place.  No one has died on the West Rim but on the South Rim they have about 6 die a year from falling over the edge, about 4 months ago a 4 year old fell over and lost grip of her Daddy's hand and she fell over the edge and her Dad nearly fell trying to grab her, can you believe that, when Mark and I were looking over the edge we said to each other we would not be able to bring the kids here as we would have an absolute heart attack!  I defiantly would have to hold all there hands and I just don't have that many hands!!!!
We went on the new attraction at the Grand Canyon the Skywalk, well this is a suspended U shape bridge that you walk around and it goes out over the edge and as you walk on it you look down through the glass bottom and see the canyon below you! very scary but a thrill.

On the way to the Grand Canyon we passed over Hoover Dam, this dam provides the whole South of the state of Nevada with its water supply including Las Vegas, it was built in 1931 and was a great source of work for many people who were desperately trying to find work as the recession had hit the USA hard.
They build "Boulder City" for the workers and today it is the only town not to have pokies!  this is why it is so popular to live in with the local people and the house price here in this town is a lot more because it is more desirable.
The Colorado River supplies all the water from the dam and the man made lake behind the dam is Lake Mead which we did a half day Kayaking tour on yesterday, because it is winter we had the whole Lake to ourselves and it was just so beautiful and tranquil.

We went to Madame Tussuad's and saw the Hollywood actors close up, quite different to London's museum so it was good to see both of them.

We met these guys at a restaurant and got talking to them and they asked us to come out with them and they would show us around,  I had Mark with me so I felt safe going with them - they took us all over the place and showed us the sights it was just great and we had a ball didn't get home until 2am!  Couldn't believe the time, time flies when your having fun!!

Tonight we are going to another show called Le Reve and it is at the most expensive hotel to stay at the Wynn Hotel, should be great as we have heard nothing but good comments about it, the stage is all under water and we had to pay extra so that we weren't in the splash zone!!  Will let you know how that is in our next entry.

Well until the next entry Love to all
Mark and Georgie/Mum and Dad xxxxxxxx

PS I have added some more photo's to the last entry
