Arrived back in Havana to find the Carnaval still in full flow. Chilled out in the Havana Vieja in the afternoon and then headed to the Malecon (promenade) for the spectacular. Like all Cuban timing it started 3 hours late, so we nipped off for a quick meal and it still hadn't begun. We watched it from the refuge of the biggest and grandest hotel in town, overlooking the Malecon. We were warned against trying to mix with the locals after they have been on the rum all day. Sounds like fun to me but I was vetoed! Pretty cool floats and lots of skimpy dancers (wish we were closer) accompanied by heaps of bands and other visual artists.
