A few of us, keen to witness a game of Pilota (Baseball), played by the best in the world. I knew very lintel about it before going but soon found out all the rules and tactics. The steel band cranked up and the volume increased to deafening... People selling all sort of dubious snacks and generally people excited about the first of 5 games to be held that week against one of their arch rivals - Havana!
Emma decided it wasn't here thing and I think she was right. Eventually it got underway and Santiago took the lead and the tension built, then it swung the other way, then back. Very close...
Before the end our Cuban friends left but we (stupidly) decided to stay. As we left a group of 20 lads tried to rob us by surrounding us and getting caught up in the crush. A couple of us fell over and pockets were riffled but luckily we lost nothing... A germ an bloke with us was oblivious to the situation and waving his camera around. I guess we were easy picking, being the only non Cubans there. Got back to the safety of our local bar to laugh about it!
