Back into La Paz
Entry 22 of 50 | show all | print this entry |
Mark 20/4: Left Coroico and headed back into la Paz in our little mini van. The driver of the van had delusions of being a dog, as he drove half the time with his head out of the window to look what was coming (Val may be able to relate). The window was fairly clear, the road was going through the cloud, so all he really achieved in doing is swerving violently from 1 side of the road to the other. But he seemed to enjoy it.
Funny thing about La Paz, alot of the shops have employed people to stand out the front to entice customers in. Whilst this is fairly common across many places and particularly for restaurants what made these staff a little beyond the norm was that they are all dressed in a large variety of costumes such as Spiderman, Batman (with Robin, his son), Mr. Incredible, Mickey & Minnie & our personal favourite, Shrek. Whilst we weren´t aware that he had quit RBS to further his career in sales, we wished him luck all the same.
Becs 20/4: Unfortunately we had to leave the serenity of the mountains and head back up to La Paz. All pretty straight forward and got a minibus straight away, after knocking back the offer of the last 2 seats in the bus (there was no way we were going to do another 3hrs in those seats) we went with an unknown company and all was good, arrived in La Paz safe and sound. We are staying back in the same hostal as last time we were hear and even in the same room. Felt like locals arriving this time! Im enjoying La Paz much more this time as no sign of altitude sickness in sight.....YAY. So whats a healthy girl to do in La Paz........shop of course! In the time it took Mark to withdraw enough money for us for the next few days, I had pretty much spent it (of and Mark brought a few things too). We brought up big on bags, pants, coasters and cushion covers, its just so cheap here its hard not to spend. Going to have to visit the post office now!
