The last few days have been superb. We have kept ourselves entertained in Mendoza, with a plethora of exciting activities. We did a full day of mountain biking, which was fantastic. Ali and I suffered from the heat, and nearing the end we spoke to one of the park rangers, who told us it was 41 degrees! That at least explained the dehydration and sunburn. The biking itself was tough, with sandy river beds and steep hills keeping us focused. After 3 hours of uphill grind, our guide stopped on the banks of a trickling river, and braaied us some quality Argentinean steaks. Simply superb! We washed the steak down with some local Mendozan wine, and that completed a well needed meal. The afternoon session was very tough, especially as we were now dragging about 20 ounces of steak around in our bellies. Ali got about 6 punctures and I got 2 during that session, which was a real test of our patience. When we finally rolled back into town, we drank about 4 liters of water each.
Tomorrow is going to be dedicated to getting organized for the hike and meeting the guides. Kev (after being starved of decent supermarkets) is planning a full day of shopping, getting necessities like black bags, blister patches, wet wipes (to replace normal showers for about 14 days) etc.

We decided to take a well deserved rest day the following day, and bought picnic foods, then nestled into the shade of San Martin park to watch the people go by. It was a relaxing afternoon of reading, Suduko and photo taking. Jenks and Kevin arrived later that evening, and it was great to catch up with them again. Had a couple of beers, and went out for some more tasty steak. Today we went on a wine route tour, which involved 2 wineries and 1 olivery. All 3 had something different and interesting to offer, and it was great to compare the wineries here to the ones in Stellenbosch.Tomorrow is going to be dedicated to getting organized for the hike and meeting the guides.
