Man, this place is hot. It is like Cayman after the hurricane! There is no air-conditioning, but we do have a fan. The problem is that the fan just circulates the "oven hot" air. Didn't get the predicted good sleep last night, in fact non at all until I took the sheets and soaked them under the shower. That was at about 4am! Had another sleep-in, until 10am this morning.
Met the owner of the backpackers, Ariel, and he gave us the low down on Mendoza, and what there is to do. We have booked a mountain biking trip for tomorrow, with some local guy, which should be great. There is a braai for lunch, and I am really looking to go hard at the much lauded Argentinean beef.
We then strolled through town, to Inka, which is the company we are climbing Aconcagua with. Met up with the people behind the scenes, and they all seemed really great! We even got to watch a slide show, accompanied by Beethoven's 5th symphony!! It was pretty inspirational (pictures not the music) and I am really keen to get going on the hike.
In typical Mendozan style, we had an afternoon siesta, and then watched the Empire Strikes Back on our little laptop. We are really enjoying traveling with it.
Arial also gave us some info on Spanish lessons, which we are in desperate need of. Went down to the school, and might be doing three 2 hour lessons next week. We then spent the rest of the evening reading and doing Suduko in Plaza Italia, one of the many parks, which was pretty cool. Doesn't seem like much when re-reading this, but it seemed like we were really busy! We must be getting into holiday mode now.
