Well after a very long 8 hour stopover in the prestigious Miami airport and then an 8 hour flight we finally arrived in Santiago. While waiting for our flight they did mention a small mechanical problem but amazingly we have arrived and are good to go.
Getting a taxi was easy, however finding our correct accommodation establishment was less easy. We were booked into the charming Hostel Forestal, however were dropped off at Hotel Forestal who then directed us to Hotel Foresta all this done with broken Spanish on our side and pretty decent English on their side. Anyway 4 hours after landing we got to HOSTEL FORESTAL...I don't believe I can remember being that hot before....
The youth hostel was what we expected and actually not too bad at all. After a shower we headed to the streets of Santiago. Not really what we expected, a lot of areas seem to be pretty poor, but the historical area and restaurants look great, so we are going to be walking the whole city tomorrow.

Tonight we are hanging out with our new hostel friends, mostly middle-aged single men, who are overweight, very pale and smoke a lot...

We are so glad to finally be here and are in Santiago for tomorrow night and then head by bus to Argentina!
