Northern Pakistan

In August of 1993 my wife Marjorie and I signed up for a mountain biking expedition in northern Pakistan. The trip would run along the Karakoram Highway mostly, from the Kunjarab Pass at the Chinese border, down through Hunza, and all the way to Gilgit. Our story appeared in the October 1994 issue of Mountain Bike Magazine.
I also traveled through Pakistan on two other occassions, in 1978 and 1981. I visited Chitral and the Kafir Valleys as well as Hunza and Gilgit. A wrote a feature story on the Kafir Kalash which appeared in Great Expeditions Magazine. These photographs are from those trips. More thumbnails ...
