We left Lewisburg this morning after a very restful night at Best Western Country Cupboard.  They provide a full hot breakfast including their famous sticky buns, so we were well nourished and ready to roll.

This morning we visited the backroads of northcentral PA.  There are several state parks in the area.  We made a stop at Raymond B Winter State Park.  This is a popular family park with campsites, a large lake, a beach and plenty of picnicking facilities.

From Route 45 which runs east and west in central PA north to Interstate 80 there are countless backroads.  This is classic Pennsylvania farming area and the entire valley is surrounded by the beautiful PA hills.  We zigzagged through the backroads and the sideroads off the backroads. Our stops in this area were mostly to take photos of the Amish countryside.  We stopped at one Amish market and ate lunch at the Milheim Hotel.

In the late afternoon we turned north again and arrived at Bald Eagle State Park, where we wil be staying for the next four days. Bald Eagle State Park is located in Howard, PA north of State College and Route I-80. The 5,900-acre park offers camping, hiking, picnicking, hunting, wildlife watching and cross-country skiing. The Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir is the focal point for water based recreation at the park. A network of 11 miles of day-hiking trails guides hikers through a variety of habitats providing excellent bird watching opportunities. Winter activities include sledding/tobogganing, ice skating and cross-country skiing. Common game species include white-tail deer, turkey, ring-neck pheasants and rabbits
