While we were in Cambodia, we had thought we would like to go to Phuket before we left to Thailand so we booked a flight from Phuket to Singapore. If we hadn't done this we would have bypassed it completely from what people said of it and from the people we met that liked it there. Anyway, we had to go there and we booked into a hostel called Phuket Backpacker,  in Phuket town for 4 nights. Do not stay in this hostel!!! The walls are paper thin so you can hear everyone's conversations and the floor boards are so bad that someone walking past your door sounds like a marching army.
 
On our first night there one of the backpackers managed to let some prostitutes and their pimp into the hostel where they commandeered an empty dorm room, talked very loudly for ages and then tried to strike a price with the idiot who let them in. He managed to get them out eventually - I think it cost him a few Baht though.
 
Nothing else to say about Phuket. We sent some things home to Ireland and counted down the time til we could get out of there and onto Singapore. We had to lighten our load because the weight limit for the flight was 15 Kg's and we had over 20. We posted things home, dumped some others and put as many heavy things into our day bags as we could manage. We also had to wear our jeans and walking boots! Luckily it was an early morning flight so we weren't passing out with the heat (until we got to Singapore!).
