Mui Ne

After the pouring rain of Dalat, we were looking forward to a few relaxing days by the beach without the crazy resort feel there was in Nha Trang. Mui Ne is basically a 10KM stretch of beach with hotels and resorts dotted all along the beachfront. Unfortunately, our bus dropped us off at one end of this stretch and nowhere near the centre where the good part of the beach is. We were about 4KM away so we ended up getting a taxi into the centre. Got there late in the afternoon and stayed in Seabreeze the first night but it had very little beach so we moved to Sunshine resort the next day which had a much better stretch of sand. It was a really nice resort and the garden backed right out to the beach so no trekking through the streets there and back - definite bonus! Not much really goes on in Mui Ne, the bars close about 10 and there aren't street lights in most places so difficult to navigate when all the shops turn their lights off too. It's a great place if you want easy access to a beach without all the hassle that comes with the more commercial places and water was lovely too.
We left to Mui Ne to go to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and on the way there we got in a traffic jam. This was the first we'd experienced in Asia as it seems keep a regular flow. Turns out the jam was as a result of a crash between a large van and a cement truck. I'm only surprised that's the first crash we've seen considering the way they overtake here! Anyway, arrived to rain in Saigon with no accomodation booked ahead so went with the first place we saw. Surprisingly, we were actually dropped in the backpacker area this time so location was good and hotel was grand so worked out fine.
Went for dinner in a place called Eden and decided to have a cocktail with dinner. It was happy hour so we got 2 for 1 which is just as well because it was actually a shot we got instead!! Disappointed but got an Orangina too (my new best friend!) so it worked out in the end. More thumbnails ...
