Nha Trang - Mind your pockets...all of them!
We got an awful night bus from Hoi An to Nha Trang. The rude people who were sitting in front of us had their seats so far back that we had to move seats altogether to the back of the bus. It was bouncy and shaky and there were fumes leaking somewhere near me which I attribute to the 3 hours "sleep" I got. Then there was the bus drivers assistant who took turns in staring at all the Western girls on the bus (it's mostly locals on these buses). Now I haven't mentioned this phenomenon so far but it's driving me absolutely mad. Obviously, in Vietnamese culture ,nobody was told that it's rude to stare. Now staring I can almost take when I'm in a good mood but not when I'm on a shitty bus and I've been forced to sit at the back because some golden oldie up front thinks he's in bed. Luckily Simon was there fend him off. Something else that's annoying me is people taking photo's of me just because I'm pale. Seriously, what do they do with the photograph's? Go home and show their families what they saw today?? I would definitely not make it as a celebrity coz I'd be up for murder.
Right so, now that that's out of the way....we got to Nha Trang at about 6am after traveling all night. Absolutely wrecked, we were glad we'd booked ahead and our hotel had a taxi waiting for us. I'd say I slept for about 6 hours before I could go out. Unfortunately that meant we'd wasted most of the day but we went out anyway to the beach and had a walk down the promenade, pestered by various touts along the way. We had some food and went back to the hotel to get ready to go out. The night was good enough. I had a few buckets which don't come in buckets but really big jam jars! Anyway, the sailing club is where everyone ends up which is by the beach obviously. Now the beach is not the place to be at night we had hears from a guy in Hoi An who had the money from his wallet stolen by a crowd of Vietnamese girls while he was there. A few minutes after leaving the sailing club we were surrounded by a pack of girls touching our faces and no doubt looking for our valuables. Luckily we knew what they were upto and got outta there fairly quickly with our money still in our wallets!
The beach in Nha Trang wasn't great - the sand was all pebbly, not smooth at all and the current was quite dangerous. After 3 days in Nha Trang we left for the cooler climates of Dalat
