Mufajel had organized this part of our trip, a three day trip staying out in the outback, exploring the great rock Uluru, the Olgas and the king's canon walk. I felt good to be experiencing all of this but Uluru would not have been top of my list of priorities when we only had 5 weeks in this very large country. As it turned out I was so pleased we did this part of the trip, it was great to see Uluru but more than anything it gave me such a true experience of the history of the aborigines and of their existence in Australia before the Brits came over. That is the major plus of travelling with a companion, it makes you do things you would not necessarily do, and in my experience this has always worked out for the best !!
There is one hotel resort next to Uluru and they charge £900.00 English pound a night, so this is why most people stay at Alice and then head off to Uluru for the day. Travelling wise this is no mean feat as it is still a five hour journey to Uluru. So in true Australian style they picked us up at 5.30 a.m. from our hostel at Alice Springs. They are sadist when it comes to early starts and make the English look like real lay abouts. Most oz's are up by 6-6.30, it is a different story in the uk, as we all know.
