Machu Picchu, the most amazing and beautiful place we have ever seen. Really, there are no words to describe what you feel when you arrive there, but we will try.
As we didn't want to take the expensive train from Cusco to Machu Picchu and the famous Inka Trail is full for the next months, we took an alternative way, the Inka Jungle Trek, a four days trekking we really enjoyed, it was not very hard, the views were amazing and the group we went with was very nice.
The first day we cycled for 3 hours until Santa Maria, the first part was very nice going down into the valley, but after, the road was full of little stones and one part of our body finished quite bad.
The second day, we started walking quite early from Santa Maria to Santa Teresa

. It was a nice 7 hours walk in the Peruvian jungle. One of the best parts of the trek was when we arrived at the natural baths after a long and hot day walking. The third day we walked for 6 hours from Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes, the last step before Machu Picchu.
The next day we started walking at 4am to climb only with the moonlight to Machu Picchu, as we wanted to be the first ones to get in. The 1 hour climbing was a bit hard as all the way was stairs but it was worth it, as we were there the first ones before the doors were opened and we could see Machu Picchu with nobody inside. That moment is unforgettable, the feeling is unique when you see that hidden and mysterious place surrounded by amazing mountains. We had a guide that for 2 hours showed and explained us the story of Machu Picchu, an unfinished Inka temple in good conservation as only 25% has been recovered. The temple was not finished due to the arrival of the Spanish troops, and the main Inka decided to leave everything as it was, take the gold and go to another place, so people say that the "Lost City" is still to be discovered, full of gold and treasures.
The most famous mountain next to the ruins is the Wayna Picchu (the meaning: young mountain) that shows like an Inka's profile along with the other mountains next to it. Look at the first photo, the Wayna Picchu is the highest mountain and it would be the nose, on its right, you can find the forehead and the eye between, on the left, the very small mountain would be the mouth and the last mountain would be the chin

Machu Picchu, el lugar más impresionante y bello que jamas hemos visto. No hay palabras para describir lo que sentimos cuando llegamos y lo vimos, pero lo intentaremos.
Ya que no queriamos coger el carísimo tren que te lleva desde Cusco a Machu Picchu y la famosa caminata del Camino del Inca, que te lleva por el original camino construido por ellos, esta completamente lleno para los proximos meses, decidimos tomar un camino alternativo, el llamado "Camino del Inca en la jungla", una caminata de 4 dias que nos encantó, no fue muy duro, las vistas eran preciosas y el grupo con el que fuimos era muy simpatico y muy diverso ya que estabamos una alemana (muy divertida y nos apoyabamos al andar ya que nos costaba a las que más), un holandes, un americano, un canadiense, un frances (Clement) y una española (yo).
El primer dia anduvimos en bici durante 3 horas hasta Santa Maria. La primera parte fue muy agradable ya que ibamos en una carretera que bajaba al valle, pero despues, se lleno de piedras y nuestro trasero acabó bastante dañado

.El segundo dia comenzamos a caminar bastante temprano desde Santa Maria hasta Santa Teresa. Fue una agradable caminata de 7 horas en la jungla de Peru, pero la mejor parte llegó al final del caluroso dia cuando llegamos a unos baños termales naturales al pie de las montañas.
El tercer dia anduvimos durante 6 horas hasta Aguas Calientes, nuestro ultima parada antes de Machu Picchu.
Al dia siguiente comenzamos a caminar a las 4 de la mañana para subir solo con la luz de la luna, ya que queriamos ser los primeros en entrar. La hora que tardamos en subir fue un poco dura, ya que hubo enormes escaleras de piedra durante todo el camino, pero merecio la pena, ya que llegamos antes que nadie y cuando abrieron las puertas, fuimos los privilegiados que pudieron verlo sin gente. Ese momento es inolvidable y lo que sientes al ver ese misterioso lugar rodeado de impresionantes y sinuosas montañas, es único. Tuvimos un guia durante 2 horas que nos monstró y nos explicó la historia de Machu Picchu, un templo inacabado que fue encontrado en buen estado de conservación, ya que solo el 25% ha tenido que ser reconstruido. El templo no fue acabado ya que el rey Inca pudo anticipar, solo mirando las entrañas de una yama, la llegada de las tropas españolas a aquel lugar sagrado; asi que dejaron todo como estaba, cogieron el oro y se fueron a otro lugar
Inka Jungle Trek III
. Es por eso que se dice que la Ciudad Perdida esta todavia por ser descubierta, llena de oro y tesoros.La montaña más famosa del lugar es el Wayna Picchu (significa montaña joven) que si la miras atentamente junto con las pequeñas colinas que la rodean podemos intuir el perfil de un Inca. Mirad la primera foto, el Wayna Picchu es la más alta y sería la nariz del Inca, a la derecha, esta la frente y entre las dos, el ojo; por la izquierda, la colina más pequeña sería la boca y la última, la barbilla. Ojala podais verlo.
En resumen, Machu Picchu nos encantó y si teneis la oportunidad de venir, no dudeis en hacerlo, es un recuerdo inolvidable.
