We had a fantastic couple of days in Paris. The city was beautiful, we would love to return if the finances would allow it. First we headed to the Av des Champs -Elysees ( a very long avenue in the centre of the city) The Arc de Triomphe at one end and a park with the Louvre at the opposite end.

After walking to the end and viewing the Louvre ( we didn't go in to see LISA) we walked right to the other end (about 2km) to the Arc de Triomphe. We climbed the 280 stairs to the top for a view over the city. From here we were able to get our bearings of the city. AC's favourite pass time quickly became 'find the biggest traffic jam' from the view above, All the French are crazy drivers.

That night we had dinner on the Champs -Elysees and then headed for the TOWER! We were last in the queue for the night. ( and we didn't take the stairs) We got to the top at 11pm to view the sparkling lights and catch the beautiful city lights.

The next day we visited Catacombs ( a underground cemetry of stacked bones in an old quarry) This was an amazing site, the French were removed from the city cemetries in 1785 and from then to 1860 all burials were put in this quarry. There was 1.7km of tunnls underground lined with stacked bones. From here we headed for the real Nortre Dame.

Next was Musee d'Orsay where we saw many Monet, Renior, Cezanne, Degas and Signac works. Then back to the Eiffel ower for a view in day light, the lawns were packe around the bottom.

The night was a highlight with dinner and a 9pm Moulin Rouge Show. It was amazing!!!! many stories to tell.

On the Sunday we headed for Sacre Coeur ( huge church on the hill). on the way to the top were passed some really lovely food markets with beautiful fresh fruit, cheese, meats. After viewing the massive church we headed down to the artist market, There were atleast 50 artist with stalls, trying to sell the works. ALSO there were dodgey old man trying to draw you in the street, every second person was saying "I draw you, you very beautiful". It was becoming ridiculous, I had to walk around with my head down and refuse anyone that wanted to talk to me. ( AC of course found this easy, but me..........).

Nearing to the end of our lovly weekend, we had lunch at a small cafe near our motel, and yet again was served up bagettes for the 5th meal.

We had a magical weekend and we will always remember our 1st annivesary!
