Lovely day yesterday. After our guided tour we went round the exhibition ourselves without the crowds, who must have still been at lunch. The posters were impressive, as expected but the surprise was the excellent portraits which really seemed to capture the essence of the sitters. We had a look in the excellent children's activity room and got the young lady to take our photo in front of the Jane Avril poster. We really enjoyed the exhibition and thought it was worth the trip.
After another rest, had a look at the National portrait gallery - very interesting. My favourite was a tapestry by the Vic tapestry guild of Dame Elizabeth Murdoch, beautiful! There was a lovely painting of Deborah Mailman done on wool sacks, really good and they've bought the astronomy professor one which was a finalist in the Archibald in 2011 (I think).
Had dinner at a nice little restaurant, a lot better than the hotel bistro the night before!
Realised in the taxi that I've left the camera in the room, phoned the hotel and they've promised to send it to me. What a dope!
Good short flight over impressive mountains. Got the airport bus and tram back to June's place where Herb picked me up.
A great trip!
