Before i set off on this little central america trip i knew i would not have as much time as i wanted and knew i would have to cut some places short. So i had already decided that Costa Rica was going to be that place.. couple of reasons.. first it has alot more tourists in it and is more expensive and alot of the things to do there cross over with similiar things i have done before too.. but i could still give it a couple of days all going good.
All was going good till i got to the Nicaragua and Costa Rica border, The que's where huge and it was slow but eventually got through and geting a bus is usually the easy part but not today. Three hours i had to wait at the border in line to get on a bus for San Jose the capitol of Costa Rica.. But i did meet some cool locals who i got talking to during the wait.. The bus journey to be 5 hours took 7 hours and it was straight to a kick ass hostel in the centre of the city.. The city looked alright i have to say despite what i had heard about it few statues
few statues
. But after the day spent travelling i needed food.. so sorted food and took a swim in the pool. The hostel had this really cool balcony restaurant that had a big deck overlooking the city.. looked cool at night with all the lights, not so impressive the following morning in daylight. One thing i was impressed with was there seemed to be no pollution in the city and it seemed far wealthier than other central american cities i had been in. i set off at 6am the next day to have a wander around the city and see a few sights.. The other mission was to try and get a Yellow fever injection which i didnt have and need for south america. So i wandered into some private clinic paid 30 bucks and got the injection sorted within 5 minutes.. piece of piss but then i had to go off and collect a certificate at another hospital which proved easy too and allowed me to do more sightseeing. Was kinda glad i went to the private clinic when i saw the state of this other hospital and the lines of people in it.
Was glad i had got up early as i was able to get an earlier bus than expected to Puerto Viejo in the Carribean.
