Travelling in Nicaragua is an experience, sometimes the bus stations are enough to put you off, but the best thing about bus stations is that everyone comes to you with a bus going in whatever direction and you never need to worry about food or drink, all the weird shit and fruit you can think of to eat is available from all kinds of street sellers.. who board the bus to sell also. Anyway it was another mini bus ride to Managua, and a quick bus change there on to an equally shitty bus to Granada... These distances arent big but the journeys take forever, Granada sits on Lago de Nicaragua and this lake is just massive.. There were plans to build a second canal from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean through Nicaragua and through the lake.. but not happened as yet.
Anyway we got into Granada and had met Natalia an Israeli girl who tagged along, so we all booked into the Bearded monkey hostel which was pretty cool and very friendly.. food was gorgeous too... most important.
Following morning myself and Harti took off to the Artillary museum which i guess was the local fort in the civil war and parts of it had been shot to shit, so not a lot left to look at. Took local buses then to get to Lago de Apoyo which is a crater lake not far away. Had a really good day there swimming in the lake, kayaking and lounging around on the lake in inner tubes. cant go wrong. It was a short bus trip then back into the centre of Granada. Granada is one of the tourist capitals of central america, it was nice and i liked it but one or two days was plenty for me.

cathadral on park square
. Anyway took the rest of the day to wander Granada and waste away some time in the town square. An international poetry reading contest thing was on too.. but that turned out to be boreing, think you have to be really into your poetry to sit there and listen.
