Its a mission to get anywhere in central america and crossing borders is always slow. you have to change buses all the time randomly and they stop to pick up every man dog and box of live chickens. You can pretty much bring anything you want on board but we eventually made it all the way to San Salvador the capitol of El Salvador. its big dirty and very polluted but we did find a nice place to stay in an ok ish area and got some top food.. happy days. El Salvadors civil war finished in the 1990īs and its not hard to tell that this country still loves guns. There is armed security everywhere for shops banks hotels the lot. Many locals carry guns too although they dont wave them about. Kind of felt left out really i probably should have bought a gun to fit in while i was there or at least a machettee which a lot of people carry too. The country has an average of ten murders a day out of a population of 6 million.
Whats funny is their currency is the US dollar, its all they use and accept so its kind of strange. By this stage it was just myself harti and jiane as isabel had gone on to guatemala. To be honest none of us felt like staying to long in the capitiol either and when i say dirty all the people in el salvador throw their rubbish everywhere. Every bit of rubbish on the bus gets fecked out the window, its disguisting and a shame, But in fairness the people are very nice and friendly. So not long after breakfast the following morning it was more local buses and heading in the direction of Santa Anna.
