It was an early morning start from Utila and i met up with Harti at the ferry and two brazilian girls he had met along the way too. Once we got into La Ceiba which took about an hour on ferry it was a taxi across town to the bus station.. we never actually made the bus station as our crazy driver flashed down the bus as he saw it coming towards us... timesaver.. it was a 3 hour ride then to San Pedro Sula which is the 2nd biggest city in Honduras.. its pretty nice and parts of it are very american with malls and business stuff. Anyway it was another taxi across town here to catch a bus to Copan Ruinas where there is a cool town and more Maya ruins... should probably mention that most public transport in central america is feckin crazy, when you are on the bus people get on all the time to try and sell you water, drinks, food, fruit, sunglasses, toys and clothes... its nuts.. oh and the best is the guys who get on and sell prescription drugs.. so funny but does get a tad annoying at times..
Anyway it was another few hours bus to Copan and after telling the local touts to piss off we sorted our hotel ..los gemelos and hit the town for a wander and a look about.
Copan is kind of similar to Antigua but i much prefered it as there was less tourists and a hell of a lot less traffic.. very quiet town and myself harti jiane and isabel found a good restaurant for dinner and a few drinks as well as the local markets. The following morning it was up and off to visit the Copan Ruinas which were really impressive. They are hundreds of years old and really well maintained and restored to a much better effect than Tikal. There are several lñarge temples and buildings built by the Mayan´s.. semmingly the reason the tribes didnt survive is that their population increased to the extent that all the local resources were used and not replaced. It was another well spent evening then in copan squandering the remaining limperos i had
