Ahh the lovely chicken bus.. Yep these buses are an experience in their own. the chicken buses are all ex american school buses that the locals use in central america.. Ohh these buses generally arent that ugly yellow they are in the states, they are now painted all kinds of cool colours. Anyway known as chicken buses cos they will pick up and carry anything and everyone..(i.e chickens.. live ones) always room for one more and all you do is hail them when they are passing. Anyway it was abut 3 hours in one of these to Panajachel and from there myself and Hartie a brazilian guy i met in Antigua took a boat across lake Atitlan to San Pedro de la Laguna, Its stunning is the only way to describe it. this big ass lake with lots of little villages on the outskirts and the easiest way to get between them is on boats and once again several volcanoe´s dwarf this lake. Rite behind the village of Pedro is Volcan san Pedro standing at over 3000 metres. This was on the agenda to climb so after myself and Hartie found a hotel we booked a trip for the following day pedro our guide and me

. Its very easy to see why so many people come here and dont leave. the lake is pristine and scenary every way you turn. All the cafes and bars here have lake and volcano views and it is just so relaxing. Had to start drinking coffee here just to try it as all the good stuff is grown here and on the side of the roads there are many people working with the coffee beans which fills the air with a strange aroma... Anyway after dinner and a few drinks by the lake we hit another bar for a movie showing. Following day it was up at 5am to go climb this volcano with our guide Pedro .. Anyway it took a bit over 3 hours to climb and its so steep and really takes a lot of energy but was well worth it when geting to the top and into the clouds. There is a lot of wildlife to see on the walk including alot of native birds. After the decent it was lunch and a well deserved drink over the lake
