By the time the plane took off i was already exhausted and it was about a 4 hour flight i think but from my window seat i did have a great view of southern Mexico and it was in to Guatemala city ... (I Didnt bother to stay in the city as by all accounts it is big dirty and dangerous and ive seen enough of them sorts of places) From there i jumped in a shuttle and went straight to Antigua which is about an hour outside the capitol. I instantly knew i was in a good traveling country when observed that they were crazy drivers and there were notices looking for Travellers with Diarrohea for tests...lol.. I checked into the Black cat hostel in Antigua and went straight to bed for my first sleep in 2 days.
Antigua is a really cool town, all the streets are cobblelock and its an older town with nothing modern visible. its also surrounded by several mountains including some big ass Volcanoes which dwarf the whole area. I took a walking tour around the town and wandered up to the view point too. You could very easily stay in this town lounging about the cafes and bars and chatting with locals in the central park square. Oh yeah my spanish is returning slowly and so glad i took that in school now. The town itself has a lot of spanish teaching schools so much of the visitors are there to study.
After a couple of nights here it was time to move on.
