After checking in at Auckland airport and unloading all my change to pay the departure tax.. Then got the customary interegation by immigration who were actually reasonably sound this time. The plane was delayed a good hour cos they had to replace some part on the plane yada yada.. Anyway it was about a 5 hour flight to Papeete which is the capitol of Tahiti, I was already finding this weird as i had crossed the international dateline... left auckland saturday morning at 2am ish and arrived in Tahiti at 8am on friday the day before...lol so this gave me an 8 day week. Tahiti is very French and thats what is spoken too, Seems to have a lot of french tourists visiting too and working there. Some of the peoople were friendly but there seemed to quite a few that werent especially if you compare it to Tonga another Pacific island.
From the airport i got picked up by the Te Miti guesthouse i was booked into and it was a 15 minute drive down the coast to there
On saturday went down to the beach swimming and snorkling for the day with the lads from the guesthouse. Had also met a Norwegian couple who had just arrived to the island and they had a rented car so myself and dave did a full tour around the island with them which was fantastic, visiting waterfalls, blowholes, numerours beaches and swimming to cool off as it was bloddy warm.
My last day in Tahiti i took a boat out to Moreea which is a stunning island about 20km off the coast. Didnt have as much time there as i would have liked but made it down the coast to a brilliant snorkling spot and hit a look out point as well. The water colours are amazing greens and blues and you can see where all the reefs are. It was back then to papeete catch a bus back to the guesthouse collect the bags and off to the airport for an 8 hour flight on to LA.

A yellow one
. Seen as it was breakfast time thats what i had and took a bus then into Papeete with robert and dave who i had met that morning at Te Miti. Papeete has feck all going for it and didnt take long to have a look around and get cash before heading back for the beach which was a stones throw from the guesthouse.. Now i had heard Tahiti was expensive but it makes Dublin look cheap.. Even the supermarket prices are crazy so food choices pretty much means you cook for yourself here...lol.. however the best part is if you are hungry during the day you can pretty much pick up a coconut off the ground anywhere and eat and drink that and in the garden of the guesthouse you just helped yourself to the papaya and grapefruit growing on the trees... dam papaya is so dam good.On saturday went down to the beach swimming and snorkling for the day with the lads from the guesthouse.
