Well my visa has come to an end for New zealand and its been a fantastic year. Have met some great people along the way and got to know the country very well. Very few roads my little mitsubishi mirage didnt travel on. 19,000 km i put on the car not to mention the road trips that were done in mates cars and vans and the odd bus seeing the country.
I managed to work in Christchurch, Queenstown, Wellington and Christchurch a second time all jobs as a carpenter.
There are loads of trips and nights out that just stand out and some of the highlights for me were meeting up with my sister rache when i first got here. Watching 6 nations rugby matches at crazy times in the morning down the Bard. Social sundays down the Bog. The weekend at the wild foods festival in Hokitika... spent eating possum, sheeps testicles...crickets, worms,, you name it and me and brian ate it..
Making the doubles final in the Otago open with Nik. Winning the doubles in the Canterbury open with Alfie and repersenting Canterbury in the wisden and slazenger cups.. (won the wisden cup which was sweet 2nd in the Slazenger)
The scenary of the south island.. Mt Cook at sunrise, The deserted Catlins, dolphins in doubtful sound, ice climbing on Franz josef glacier. The Remarkables overlooking lake tikatapu and queenstown quite possibly my favourite view. The craic in queenstown.. jagger bombs, Buffalo bar and two for one deals, a pub quiz we could never win. (did manage 2nd once) Did manage another guinness 100 club in morrisons too. Canyon swings and bungy jumps and snow boarding in Cadrona which left me covered in bruises and all well worth it.
Kayaking in Able Tasman national park with more dolphins. Pub crawling around Wellington with Karl. The zorb in rotorua which still has me in hysterics. Stunning Coromandel beaches all to myself. The hole in the rock in the Bay of islands and being lucky enough to see Orca Whales which were so impressive and curious. Standing at the tip of Cape Reigna and watching the pacific and tasman meet.
Although Tonga wasnt part of the plan it was a brilliant bonus holiday and myself karl and paul had a blast... Fair play to Karl for spotting the deal on air new zealand.
The sunrise i saw so randomly in Kaikora coming back to christchurch. Countless blue skies over the year....
Am attaching some of my favourite photos from the last year in NZ... Next stop is Tahiti.... (more photos to come)
