Another badminton tournament for the weekend and while i am at it i can fit in some tourist stuff.. nice one... now i wasnt exactly too sure how much tourist stuff there would be to see and do here as it has a name for being a bit of a hole.. Mick Jagger famously said that "Invercargill was the asshole of the world" and that line seems to have stuck.. but i actually quite liked the place.. there wasnt a lot to see and do there... there is a good museum with some interesting stuff in it and some nice older buildings.. the town itself .. well town centre goes suddendly from shops and banks to industrial buildings and it looks as if there used be a lot more industry here years ago.. so few derilict looking buildings about but the place is real clean and tidy. I did manage to go see Oceans 13  in the cinema too which i enjoyed and was much better than 12.
I stayed in a pretty cool hostel too which was real central and not far from the stadium where the tournament was.. Friday nite it was singles.. now i hadnt played in 3 weeks since Dunedin so wasnt sure what way i would be hitting but surprised meself and played real well. Got through a couple of rounds and eventually lost to the number one seed again in 3 close sets and gave him a bit of a scare so all good. I played with a local guy in the doubles as i hadnt got a partner for this one.. Doubles turned out to be one big round robin so load of games which was good but we could only win half. ..It was back on the road again for Queenstown which is about a 2 hour drive north of Invercargill.
