Seen as Milford sound is a dead end its a long drive back to get anywhere, took me about 2 hours ish to get back to Te Anau and from there its another 2 hours drive to Queenstown. I had got in touch with Karl who had been in queenstown a few days already and went to check into the same hostel as him but that was full so i checked into the Black Sheep hostel around the corner. Then it was straight into town to meet Karl for a drink and stayed out then for the rest of the evening. Queenstown isnt like any other New Zealand town or city. This place is very much a party town... its a ski resort town so it is really coming alive for winter. There are lots of outdoor activities to do here.. Bungy jumps.. sky dives.. jet boating.. paragliding and not to mention the sking and snow boarding.. My plan is to come back here in about a week and look for work and a place to live here then.
Queenstown is full of bars and clubs and tourists.. i dont think there are many locals around here at all..But the town itself is beautiful. lake wakatipu

 . it sits on lake Wakatipu and has a backdrop of jagged snow capped mountains.. so its well impressive.
Rachel is in Cromwell at the minute so on saturday i went off to meet her.. its about 60km from Queenstown.. It was pissing rain and off i went enjoying the drive.. only to get pulled over by a cop... Anyway he must have nothing better to do as he pulled me over for failing to keep left..lol... i.e part of my car crossed over into the opposite lane for a second.. it was a pass out line i crossed anyway.. Then i get breathalysed... which i passed not a bother.. Then the fucker gives me a fine for $150 so i was none to impressed. The git had been tailgateing me too so when i told him he didnt have a 2 second brakeing distance behind me .. he said he had 20 years experience... sure that counts for fuck all...lol .. anyway i think im going to scribble a letter to see if i can get out of this one.. I wouldnt mind if i didnt have my seat belt on or was speeding but what a load of bollox.
Anyway i met Rachel then in Cromwell and caught up on all her news and went to a thai restaurant for dinner as well which was really nice.
Back to Queenstown again saturday night and out to the Buffalo bar... and like every other bar here has a promotion on.. There i met guys who i had been on the speights brewery tour in Dunedin a few days earlier and then i met 3 of the girls who had been in the really nice hostel in Curio Bay.. it really is a small town for bumping into people. Passed through the casino then as a shortcut to get home and just as well i did as i came out $50 better off.
Sunday the weather was gift so i took a walk all around the town and park and up part of the lake. Went to a table quiz then in the afternoon and we met up with a load of scottish and english who were staying in Karls hostel and that led on to a fairly late nite..
