Seven metres is a lot of rain to get in a year out in the sounds... so it rains most days.. anyway after leaving doubtful sound i doubled back to Te Anau stayed another nite there.. Filled the car up again with petrol because there are no petrol stations for the 240 km round trip... The weather was supposed to be good but it was shite.. pissing down with rain.. and on the east coast we get very little if any rain.. so this was real connemara weather.. Anyway i drove the 120km down into Milford sounds stopping off along the way to look at thousands of waterfalls coming down off the mountains and fast flowing rivers too.. Most of these waterfalls are temporary and they only start up when it rains so its pretty spectacular. Milford sound gets alot more tourists than doubtful simply becasue there is a road to get there i guess.. but it is nice too... Once i got to the end of milford sound the cloud cover was so heavy you could see very little so i didnt take a boat out into the fiord. I did some of the walks there and looked at yet another waterfall.. And then it was back in the car and on the road for Queenstown..
