My last day in christchurch the 23rd of May it took me forever to pack up and finally hit the road with my car full of crap in the late afternoon.. It was on to route 1 and heading south for Oamaru. took about 3 hours ish to get there and it was dark at this stage. Oamaru seems to be a nice town but it was completley dead.. i seemed to be the only car on the road and there was no body even walking about the streets. I was literally waiting for tumble weeds to blow past me. Anyway i checked into the Empire hostel and went out to get some food which was a waste of time cos nothing was open. Thursday i went down to the Blue penguin colony and took a walk to a look out point and a look around the town. The town has a lot of these big old limestone buildings which are pretty impressive. been having dead strange weather as of late too and it was over 20 degrees which was great as this would be equivalent to our november i guess in ireland. Anyway once i had Oamaru knocked on the head i went off in search of the Elephant rocks which are these giant rocks sculpted from sand over millions of years... Whats easier to remember about them is that the Chronicals of Narnia movie was filmed there appearantly. So i spent a some time there before driving south again for Dunedin.
