Leaving off from last weekend... it did take a few days to recover from the festivities so work dragged along and i seem shit out of luck ...as Karl put it if i didnt have any luck ..id have bad luck. Another poxy foot problem.. this time its an ingrown toe nail which i reckon i have picked up cos i spent weeks limping about like a gobshite cos of them bliseters.
Anyway aimed to have a quiet week and catch up on sleep which i managed. Another irish guy Brian from Mayo and his Sweedish girlfriend Suzanna moved into the house as well and both are well social which is good. On Thursday Dave was back in town so i met up with him and got in a few drinks and an Indian meal which was really good and then Dave was off to catch a flight to Fiji for 3 weeks of island hopping... lucky git.. This work stuff is well over-rated so looking forward to hitting the road meself again soon.
Had been meaning to go to Mt Hutt for a drive the weekend before but that didnt happen so saturday myself and Karl drove to Mt Hutt for a look. Its about 80km from Christchurch and is a winter ski resort.. Well huge mountain with loads of ski slopes. We took a look in the local town Methven which was dead... half waiting for a tumble weed to blow through it... And you can see its very much a winter place. We drove up the mountain then which was cool as it was an off road track all the way up .. The views from the top were awesome and the land just sits so flat below with loads of perfect looking farmland and fields of crops. A few km from the mountain is a river in a huge gorge which seemed to pop out of no where. Like every other river here the water was crystal clean and a greeny blue colour..not the shade of that stinkin Liffey in dublin. Anyway we stopped there for a while and made it back to Christchurch later that evening.
Saturday nite Brian and suzanna had about 7 scotish and irish friends around so we had a few drinks in the house first and headed for town about midnite... back to the Bog again where i ran into a few of the lads i had met watching the match the week before so a really good nite out and made it home about 5am.
Sunday i managed to get to the cinema to see a movie and after dinner it was down to the pub again with karl, brian and Suzanna.
I had already started searching for chiropedists to sort out this toe nail... bad spelling probably.. and then i was told to look for a podiatrist.. spelt wrong too i think.. Anyway couldnt get an appointment with any of the fuckers for at least a week so picked meslf up one of them special nail scissor pliers things and a twezzers and a shit load of pain later i seem to have solved the ingrown nail problem. Well if swelling goes down yada yada ill know its fixed. Hopefully next weekend will make the wild foods festival on the west coast all going well.

Friday it was an early finish in work after what seemed like a mega long week so straight on the beer once home... and dinner became a pie on the way to a show in the convention centre and then it was into the Bard and the Bog for a few more drinks.
