Well all going grand here.. working away and am having a good laugh there. Few characters on the site but you will always find a few nut jobs on building sites. Anyway last friday we had our christmas party after work.... Well it turns out the company never got to put on "Do" for the lads so they were having it that friday... I was delighted cos i never got to any staff xmas parties meself at xmas.. So we finished work early and out came a roast ham, pork and beef... Nice one but i still would have liked to have seen a proper turkey.. not to worry. they also got in a load of booze so was a pretty good evening all in all.
In the last couple of weeks have managed to sort out a bit more stuff myself and Karl found a house to live in which is a ten minute walk from the city centre and close to shops and not far from work either and plenty of parking so happy days all round on that one. There are 2 other Kiwi lads, a german guy and two girls from Argentina in the house as well
The weekend before last Dave who i had been traveling with in Asia flew into christchurch from Australia so picked him up at the airport and booked a bed for him at the same hostel i was in. Weird in a way last time i had seen him was in Cambodias capitol Phnom Phen back in November. He is traveling about new zealand now for a few weeks so myself Karl and Dave hit a few bars about the city and caught up before he headed north for plane flying and whale watching trips. It was funny too ..the travelling circle really is small and one of the days in the hostel i walked into the kitchen to bump into Darwin and Clare and english couple i had traveled with for a few days in Malaysia..The same week i bumped into Aidan from Galway who i had traveled with along with a few other irish in Phnom Penh and siem reap in Cambodia.
Been in and out of the Bog pub a fair bit since Rachel introduced us to the place and went out there over last weekend. Sunday was a crackin day so myself and Karl took a drive off towards Akaroa which is about 80km or so south of christchurch and on the coast. You go over lots of mountains geting there and it is stunning... Couldnt believe how beautiful the place was and the colour of the water there.. it was just pristine. So we hung out in the town of Akaroa for a while which is well nice and then made it along some of the Summit road for views up and down the coast and rite out onto the Banks penninsula. So was well impressed.
Now i got to admit i miss the Asian food big time but here in new zealand i have got addicted to Pie's.... yep everywhere sells them.. these hot pies. chicken steak vegtable.. there all good... Not exactly like the more healthy Asian options. And as you can get em in any shop almost its much better than having to wait on a kebab at 3 in the morning.

. And.......FINALLY after like 5 months and a bit i dont have to live out of me rucksack. Its nice to be able to un-pack for a while and throw my clothes in drawers and a wardrobe.. not sure how long more i will be here for but its still good to have it all unpacked. The weekend before last Dave who i had been traveling with in Asia flew into christchurch from Australia so picked him up at the airport and booked a bed for him at the same hostel i was in.
