Lovely after another 8 shitty hours on the slow boat... ohh scenary along the way was my saviour by the way that and the amusement that Ben from the trek provides although when he feel asleep pissed on the boat his cousin Jolene did shave his stomach and chest. we arrived in Luang Prabang. People meet you off the boat offering accomadation and we found a gem for one pound a nite each, Nicest room have had to date on travels. Anyway 10 of us from the boat got the organised taxi there and it worked out grand. Myself Kieran, Ian and Dave all from the trekking group shared a room here.
Got some dinner and drinks in and hit the market the first nite. Really nice place, all laid back, people are lovely and food as always Ace. Next day we took a good walk about and visited a temple on the top of the hill in the town, crackin views over the Mekong and surrounding mountains. Luang Prabang has a lot of french colonial design going on and really liked the place. I have to say Laos is stunning, 50% of the country is forest and 70% is mountains, only about 5 million people live there and its about the same size as the U.K .. obviously im stealing all these facts from the lonely planet guide book. So we had a good day and nite out there and for the right money the taxi driver even let us drive the Tuk Tuk home ourselves. Frankie and Ian did the honours, not sure they would have passed a breathalyser test (if one even exists in the country) but anyway good fun was had by all.
