Another fast train to Shanghai 1300 km is a pure breeze on these trains. Quick subway ride then into the peoples square and a taxi down to the Bund area to find the Captains hostel where we managed to check in and get sorted. It was off out then for food and to meet up with Kate who i had met diving in Honduras over a year before. We went to Glamour bar which wasnt exactly back packing scene or prices but what the hell.
Next morning it was time for a tea ceremony with a few chinese girls which turned out to be really good fun. You try 6 different types of tea and they explain what each does for the body and how its picked and where its from. From there it was into the main shopping district where there are more fake bags and watches and whatever else than you can swing a stick at. The chinese seem to copy every product and sell it cheap. The hostel bar had a stunning view over the new parts of Shanghai which was great for a drink kate and me

. unfortunatley Shanghai is pretty expensive compared to the rest of China its also covered in a haze of pollution which seems the norm in China. It was off out then to the Bund brewery bar then for an all you can drink deal which kept the bill down.
The following day it was through the tourist tunnel and under the river which is one of the worst tourist attractions ive ever seen. On the new side of the city sits high rise office towers and international trading centres. The Aquarium there turned out to be a brilliant afternoon and they had all kinds of cool fish and sharks there. When we came out a massive thunderstorm caught us and we were drenched within a minute...lol.. Oh well it took ages to get back to the hostel too as there is so much construction many roads are closed off and you could barely see in the rain. It was out again that nite to meet up with kate for a few drinks and dinner before she flew off to Melbourne.
Our last day in Shanghai was spent seeing a few more parts of the city and shops and to kill a few hours off before the train went to the cinema. On to the train station and next stop Xian in the west.
