Arrived in Fremantle after it seemed like I was driving forever! I was so glad to see familiar sights of the Freo foreshore and the best fish and chip place in town! After checking into the backpackers I headed across the park to the marina for dinner. It was too late in the day for visiting tourist attractions so chilled out with some fresh sea air and a relatively early night.
Was spending 2 days in Fremantle so slept in til lunch time then spent the afternoon visiting the Maritime Museum and the Circle House (old gaol). The museum features a Dutch Wreck Gallery of shipwrecks lost off the west coast of Australia, including the famous Batavia in 1628, the Zuytdorp in 1712 and the Vergulde Draeck in 1656. I found this museum fascinating.
I basically relaxed in Freo. I needed it. Set off for Perth Saturday morning.
