The beach we stayed at had one beach with some cafes and tables and boats docked there, and another beach accessible one of 3 ways.
1. Walking/ Swimming through the water past the rocks, better when the sea is calmer, but it never ges deeper than waist level.
2. Scaling the rocks, which I attempted but chickened out of due to a sheer drop. Marcelo however was succesful in this.
3. Walking through the forest
As a result of this the second beach is almost completely empty as the photos show.
The third attraction is the natural swimming pool created by rock fall into the sea which forms a circle around an area of water, protecting it from waves. This means that the sea water stays very calm and is just deep enough to swim in. This is accessed after walking the length of the second beach and through another forest. Marcelo and I went an explored and Edson and Sandra said we were gone for about 2 hours.
The fourth attraction is hidden in another forest of the first beach which is a trail of waterfalls. We did this at the end of the day, which was a bit tiring but nice to cool off. On the trail a red hairy spider jumped out at me, my first encounter with a scary spider in Brazil, but I easily side stepped it. I'm not sure what type of spider it was or if it was venomous or just protecting it's turf.
Of course Marcelo and Edson were straight in the cold water. I was a bit more reluctant. They seem to love waterfalls those two.
The reason these beaches were my favourite was because they are not just sun bathing beaches, but exploring too. Sun + Sea + Sand + Waterfalls + Forest + Natural Swimming pool + Coconut Water and fresh Mango Juice = An awesome day out!
