We´re staying in the Gaslamp Quarter, a really pleasant part of town, teeming with restaurants, bars and cafes.
Michelle and her friends show us around the San Diego night scene, which we must say, is one of the liveliest that we´ve seen in the States. Thanks Michelle for a great time, it was cool to catch up with you!
The next day, Michelle organized us some tickets for an open top tourist bus, London style
We hop off to explore the old town, a curious mix of wild west and Spanish colonial architecture. It´s a very interesting and attractive place to wander around.
Our last day in San Diego, and we visit some bargain stores, to stock up on clothes and supplies, before heading down into Latin America.
We´ve been really impressed with San Diego. A clean, friendly, modern city, with a great bar/cafe culture. Although it´s right next to Mexico, it still looks and feels like a very American city. Something which surprised us. Especially with LA, which is 2 hours further north, having such an Hispanic vibe about it.
It´s almost as if the Americans have done it on purpose, and put one of their finest cities, slap bang on the border, in full view of their southern neighbours.
