August 11

Hopefully, I didnt get to wait long before a fully pack SUV with trailer pulled over to pick me. It was an old man, fisherman from Honningsvåg and he was going all the way till further than the crossroad to Oksfjord... so I had my ride and he was stopping to pick someone else in Alta. The funny thing is that he was remembering me one of my uncle.

The way was great, and the landscape changed all the time but stayed great... from the wooden area of the way to Hammerfest we went up in the mountains following a river and some canyons and waterfall to arrive to a huge toundra plain before finally get back down while approaching the huge and long Alta fjord.

Once at the crossroad to Oksfjord just near the border to Troms, the temperature changed abruptly... from the hot and sunny day we had so far it got pretty cold there and there was some scary dark cloud over the next peak I was standing. I noticed though that the wind was going to bring the cloud on my direction but just paralell (great to have had geography diplomas... with climatology course! Great Foehn effect!). So I was saved of the potential rain but the cold hit strong and I could hardly stand it.

Luckely, I got pick by 2 young persons coming from Tromso and going to Oksfjord and I had my lift in the pack car... next to the cat litter. The car was funny though and stressed in the car. The curvy road mixed with the smell of the litter gave me some nausea though.

Then, I arrived at Kjell place nearly at the same time than he did. We talked and I cooked something and he went to also talk to his girlfriend through the net which lives in Argentina and they plan on getting married soon. I found it great thinking and talking about that as it remembered me of Gil. They met in Argentina while travelling, fell in love and she came over and it goes on!

We watched 'the office' and finally head to sleep!

Waking up slowly by the morning and early enough to get a shower and some food and packing, I realised that I'm starting to have quite a bad cough and a cold... the other stupid thing is that I realised that my host in Tromso would only be expecting me next week-end and that he doesnt seem to have catch my date request pretty well. Hence the fact that I didnt get answer from him then!

So I wrote him a email telling that I cancel my trip to Tromso... as I couldnt really spare another week up north in the area. Then I changed my plan and contacted Mari in Storslett to stay overnight and I was then expected by the evening.

Later, I met with a chilian friend of Kjell and then I also noticed the huge glacier through the window as the sky got clear and perfectly sunny during the morning... that was an amazing view! We then drove to the end of the road to see the view on the fjord and the islands around. Then as midday arrived it was time for me to get going, so Kjell and his friend drove me a part of the road to lead back to main road and brought me to after the huge 4km long tunnel that bring to Oksfjord stopping on the way to get some cliche of the Glacier.

Then its been the goodbyes and I waited... waited .... waited and the only few rare cars didnt think of stopping and there was as many curious reindeer around as there was car passing.

Finally, my cold also turn really bad as the temperature has been now pretty warm and was getting back quite fresh... I felt bad and my water reserve got out... the long waiting got annoying and I couldnt hold anymore as it was about 4h I was there going crazy, it's finally a lithuanian car who stopped and drove backward to pick me and then I got a ride to the National main road at last!
