Some goodbye and lunch goods and we were on the road... finally something good happen and he finish per driving us direct to Maastricht. So me and Liis were in Maastricht somewhat half a day earlier than expected and Sander (our host) wasn't there before the end of the day. We visited a part of town and relaxed at some different place. Later on we met another german backpacker and made some promotion of HC. At the end of the afternoon we met with Sander and could at last dump our bag at his place, which is a nice typical student building with a really transformed garden -- a bar, a causy place, chickens and rabbit! We went out in town to visit some more, then to a fritkot for some more local junk food and some local speciality. I ate for the first time ever french fries with peanut butter... weird but well (frieten sate) and some krokket. After that for digestion we climbed up the St-Pietersberg, which is the highest point of the whole Netherlands at ... 200m. The night became chilly and we walked some more in town, visited some friends of Sander and became real tired.
Back at his place we improvised another lunch, did some net and talk and hop in bed. I got an answer from our guest in Venlo and so we have a full week of accomodation for now jiiippppiee! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 3 Today the 3d of October, its now a grey and lazy day. We didnt count well our day and will finally stay one day longer in Maastricht but it has been quiet so far. Now we will go in town and I will try to solve the fact that my bank card isnt working in the Netherlands so I can't withdraw :S Another quiet day in Maastricht, thing goes quite fine beside that I'm bumping and hurting myself into anything that stand on my way... I'll be buised.
The morning was cloudy but it got sunny in the afternoon - which is the moment when we went outside for a walk in over the city wall until we found a supermarket. We stoped for an improvised pick-nick in a city park near the bastion and afterwards we came back and Sander arrived later with a friends so we could all cook and eat together. We made up a weird spaghetti but it has been swallowed anyway! I liked Maastricht and I hope the rest of the trip will go as fine. I would have loved to download pictures but the msn is doing dumb and doesnt show a place to upload photos - c'est con! More thumbnails ...
